This Sunbeam is a 24/ 70 model 5 seater tourer. It has chassis number 7076D and engine number 247068D. I have owned the car since 1993 and have enjoyed driving it in the UK and on many continental tours. It is big car but drives very well as do all Sunbeams. It has been fitted with a high ratio back axle to give easy cruising at 55/ 60m mph and about 16mpg. The 24/ 70 model was fitted with 4 wheel brakes and a gearbox driven brake booster.
Recent work has included the back axle, prop shaft, clutch, and gearbox. A new hood and tonneau covers are with the car so that it can be wet weather tourer too! The bodywork and nickel fittings are in very good condition but not concours.
The car has an interesting history. It was exported to Canada by the first owner. He then returned the car to the works in 1932 to have it converted to Left Hand Drive. After he died he car was in the Reynolds Museum in Alberta Canada before being reimported into England in 1988 and being restored.
The car was invited with other Sunbeams to drive the grand prix divers around Silverstone last summer.
A magnificent early vintage tourer. On our first trip to France we covered 435 miles on the first day.
