Fantastic cool Renault 16 TX with 5-speed 1st series. Owned for 28 years by the last owner who had the car fully restored. The well-known Renault specialist "centre seize" has taken care of the car completely from the rotisserie. A restauration de rôtisserie, in other words. Delivered new in Charost and in the Netherlands since 1995. This early TX is said to have been at the Paris Motor Show.... but anyway, an R16 needs no introduction, it was a successful French mid-size car with many innovative details. And in the beautiful TX version, with a dike of an appearance too. A big difference from the standard version; special double headlights, green tinted glass, sporty rims, rear wiper and, to top it all off, the wafer-thin stainless steel rear spoiler. This TX even has the rare Dunlop alloy wheels.

More information and photos to follow. Renault used to be a real engine builder and Gordini has tackled the famous 1647cc alloy engine to get 93 bhp out of it with low consumption. The head has a semi-spherical combustion chamber thanks to V-shaped valves with a central spark plug. Really out of the book, in other words. The engine in this TX was overhauled in the past and made suitable for unleaded petrol. Starts immediately both hot and cold and delivers a lot of torque, it is even instinctively a fast car.

The Renault 16 was the car of the year in 1966. With a striking design and innovative thanks to the fifth door with folding rear seat, front-wheel drive, alloy engine with wet cylinder bushings and many more clever innovations. This mid-size car was technically far above most other mid-size competitors. Built for at least 13 years, and now there are almost no examples left, as rust was its biggest enemy in the lowlands.
