Beschreibung
I am advertising this lovely 1967 Humber Sceptre Mk2 1725 on behalf of my elderly friend.
The car is a 4 door saloon with only 66600 miles on the clock. It has been been lightly used in the UK over the past 57 years and has only had 5 previous owners.
It has a manual gearbox with overdrive which all operates smoothly with a good clutch. It is powered by the desirable petrol 1725 cc engine, which easily keeps up with modern traffic.
The bodywork is clean and very tidy in Light Metallic Blue and is very solid. Minor surface corrosion is visible around the sill ends and lower front wings ( see photos) but this is not structural and will be fairly easy to correct. The car has not been painted in recent years and nothing has been 'covered up' for this sale.
The underside of the car was the subject of restoration around 2012 and correctly repaired/ welded and undersealed to makea what is very strong 57 year old structure.
The interior of the car is completely original in light blue vinyl and really is exceptional for its age with only a few minor blemishes. Recovered seats would never look as good as these original ones !!
The dash board is also very nice and contains a full array of guages, as any proper Classic car should !
The speedometer has just stopped working within the last week (honestly !) and probably needs a new cable, but my friend, who is in his 80's is not physically able able to do this work and will have to leave it to the new owner.
The car is completely standard apart from being fitted (around 5 years / 500 miles ago) with a new Weber Twin Choke Downdraft carburettor and inlet manifold to replace the notoriously poor original Twin Choke Solex carb, which will be supplied with the car.
A new Heavy Duty VARTA battery was fitted 2 years ago that is still under Warranty until late 2025.
The V5C registration document is available in my friend's name and address, along with partial Service History. This car is ULEZ free and is Road Tax and MOT exempt. It was regularly MOT'd up until 2018 when the recorded mileage was 63000. The elderly previous owner at the time was suffering very poor health and although the car continued to be driven a few hundred 'dry' miles each year, he decided not to have it MOT'd, as is now permitted . He gave up driving 12 months ago and sold the car on Ebay at that time to my friend for £6500.
My friend drove the car 60 miles home along the M4 and M25 in heavy traffic and arrived in Biggin Hill, Kent without incident.
During his ownership, he has carried out light servicing/ maintenance jobs but has driven it less than 100 miles since, sadly due to both he and his wife not experiencing the best of health, hence this reluctant sale.
The car is available for viewing at my friends home in Biggin Hill. It is currently taxed and Insured.
The car is very fairly priced, although 'sensible' offers will be considered.
No Agencies or Canvassers or Overseas Buyers requesting Export Assistance need enquire.
I will be handling initial sale responses on my Friend's behalf due to his advanced years.
The car will only be released to the new buyer upon receipt of Cleared Bank Funds or Full payment in Cash.
Thanks for taking the time to view this advert. David
