This original WD Matchless G3L was supplied to the War Office under contract C11102 dated 21st July 1941. There were 3352 motorcycles supplied under this contract and many are known to have been supplied to the Airborne Forces. The Pegasus on the fuel tank is painted and not a stencil. The bike comes with a current V5C and is registered as a historic vehicle and is therefore free of UK road tax and MOT exempt.
The bike has retained many of its original War time features including WD blackout mask, T position lighting switch, original CZ27 ammeter and canvas handlebar grips. The engine is a War time service replacement unit and is still fitted with its riveted engine plate number.
The bike has recently been serviced and starts, runs and rides really well.
We can arrange shipping World Wide at the buyers cost. Please call or email to ask any questions or arrange a time to come and look at the bike.
Finding an early 1941 Matchless G3L is not easy as most of them had a hard life with the army. This bike is from a contract that included many that went to the Airborne Forces but we cannot be absolutely certain that this is where it was delivered. The markings on the tank are all painted and not stencils or transfers and look very authentic. A really nice bit of WW2 history to own
