As members of our local MG Owner's Club (treasurer for 17 Years) we bought the MGF SE in 2009, to go on Club trips to France as we though that our other car, a 1971 Midget, would not be able to keep up with the rest of the Club's MGBs & Cs. We have completed 4 trouble free trips since then as well as tours and exhibitions in the U. K.
Being a limited-edition model with a unique Wedgewood Blue paint work, it stands out well when parked up with other MGs. The grill badge for the Royal Windsor MG Heritage Festival is proudly displayed on the front grill.
Though comfortable to drive, being now the wrong side of 80 and with dodgy knees and back, it regrettably, has come time to part with the car and pass it to a new owner. The photographs at the end of the sequence show the car out on the road for this year's Drive-it Day on April 21st, this year.(2024)

Though built and registered in 2000 the MGF SE incorporated the upgrades and changes made to the 2001 model year MGFs which became known as the Mk II . These cars incorporated a number of detail improvements aimed at eliminating some of the earlier car's weaknesses, including re-specified EPAS, double skinned petrol tank and detail changes to the cylinder head location and gasket design. Cosmetic and specification changes were few- what there were was aimed at improving the ambience of the cabin- with the only external changes being the painting of the windscreen surround in body colour where previously it was painted black, and the change of colour of the front indicator units from orange to smoked-clear lenses. Thus the cars received new seats designed to improve comfort and lateral support; the door trims now included an alloy insert (or wood as an option), the centre console was redesigned with an alloy theme incorporated (such as the gear lever surround) and improved switch gear. The heater controls were now silver painted. Controversially, the instrument dials lost their 'MG' logos, and the cream faces changed for silver items with a new italic type face. Compensation arrived in the form of an improved six-speaker stereo, with a pair of speakers behind the occupants' heads.
The first limited edition based upon the 2001 model year, came on July 11th 2000, when MG Cars announced an MGF SE - available for the first time in Wedgwood Blue and featuring 'Special Equipment' items - exclusively for the UK market.
The SE was specified with many complementary features and distinguished by its Wedgwood Blue paintwork and 16" multi-spoke alloy wheels, with 215/ 40ZR tyres. The exterior was enhanced further with a chrome pack - which included chrome door handles, wire mesh grille and side air intakes - a body-coloured rear boot spoiler, the first MGF to come so-equipped with it as standard and a wind stop for open-top comfort.
Inside the all-black full leather seats were matched with an ash grey fascia and door casings, silver finish centre console and fascia vent surrounds and a CD tuner for wider music selection to the six-speaker system.
The MGF SE 1. 8i was priced (on the road) at £18, 270. Production total was limited to 500 only, with deliveries available in showrooms from July 2000 onwards.
Indications are that there may be less than one hundred remaining cars in road worthy condition and in active use, though others may remain in storage or being restored.
