Description

1975 Land Rover Series 3, 109”

A very well presented, original UK, RHD, useable, no-nonsense classic. This Land Rover has been rebuilt with daily usability in mind. It is therefore equipped with a 300 TDI engine, connected to an Ashcroft transmission high ration transfer case, sat on a galvanised chassis. Supported by GB springs parabolic suspension and later Defender heavy duty Wolf steel wheels wrapped in BFG tyres. The brakes have been completely replaced with LOF’s big brake kit. The interior has been lined with the acoustic matting system sold by Exmoor trim, topped with deluxe seats and inertia seat belts. On top is an extended black truck cab bikini top, supported by galanvised hoops.

This is arguably the best configuration for a classic Series Land Rover. The longer 109” wheelbase offers a far superior, stable, less jarring ride over the shorter 88”. The load bed is a reasonable size and offers better proportions for a canvas bikini top. The engine and transmission set up provides as frustration free motoring as possible whilst not looking out of place.

The bodywork carries patina and character in its original limestone paintwork.

The extended truck cab bikini top is arguably the best canvas top for Series Land Rovers. A fully enclosed cab which provides weather protection and better acoustics than a tin top or if the sun is shining, the rear and sides roll up for a bikini top.

This Land Rover can keep up with modern traffic and return in the region of 25-30mpg. Motorway speeds are achievable.

With reference to the government website regarding MOT & Tax exemption, my interpretation of the points systems suggests this vehicle is exempt. My local independent specialist agrees. Worth reading the regulations to satisfy yourself.

This is not a glossy restored example with polished rivets by any means. It is an honest vehicle on top with sympathetic modernisation underneath, destined to be used as intended but also enjoyed without the hindrance of aged technology and poor reliability.

I am a Land Rover enthusiast and I have thoroughly enjoyed owning this particular vehicle. Reason for sale is I simply fancy a change. Vehicle has been stored away for the winter and now ready for the summer. I’m a fair weather motorist.

Up to date V5 present, along with Heritage certificate and clear HPI check.
