In 1996, the Ferrari 550 Maranello was first presented to the public. A car that upheld many things, but also stopped pretending. For instance, the 456's hamster rear seat disappeared and made way for a luggage compartment. A true two-seater for long distances, with temperament of an Italian who has just walked out of the espresso bar. The 550's V12 is actually - a bit bipolar. Underneath, it's a lovely car for touring and comfortable driving. However, as soon as you turn on the 5. 5 V12, your golf bag in the back goes to 100 in 4. 4 seconds and it pulls through to 320 km/ h. FORE!
And then a word about that big chrome gear lever in the middle... In the end, that's what we too do it for. Every time you pull the beautiful gear lever along its aluminium guides, together with the typical 'clack-clack' sound when you change gear and hear the roar of the V12, you feel your chest hair grow. What a delicious thoroughbred! Skip legday at the gym from now on, the 550 provides you with nice spawn. God, how well those guys in Maranello can make you forget rationality.... Well known even among test drivers, it became the Engine of the Year in 2000 and 2001 (4. 0l+).
A total of 3, 083 were born. And us? We, of course, have one of those three thousand units, however, ours is a little éxtra delicious. The previous owners took incredibly good care of it.
