Description
Lovely Mazda RX7 3rd generation,
Needs engine rebuild/ repair.
Mazda RX7 FD3S (Efini import) Type-R Bathurst-X.
2600cc rotary engine, twin turbo, 5speed manual gearbox.
It was Imported in 2005, and I have owned it since 2010.
I looked at about 9 of these cars before I bought this one and it was by far the best one I had seen.. and came with an engine rebuild to original spec, and already converted for use on UK roads.
Completely standard and un-modified, still twin turbo.
The only upgrades the car has are the staggered 18" alloy wheels & tyres, and a set of 'Tein Street Advance' adjustable suspension... all of which I bought new... the wheels are still in immaculate condition... and the tyres ( Uniroyal Rain Sport 2's ) still have loads of tread.
The car is in lovely condition throughout... there's no rust or rot anywhere, it's never been welded, panel gaps and bumper fit are all excellent, the paintwork is impressive with any minor defects being small.
The Interior is also excellent... nothing broken, missing or damaged, the car originally had red leather seats ( part of the Bathurst - X spec ) but the previous owner changed the front ones to the black cloth type because the drivers leather one was a bit scruffy, I have still got the original red rear seat for it.
The gauges and electrics all work correctly.
The Kenwood (face off) CD player/ radio & electric aerial all work.
Car has Air Conditioning but I have never gassed it up or used it.
Private plate valued at £600.
Lots of paperwork for the car... receipts, mot's, hand-books etc.
Unfortunately the engine has recently failed... and it has been confirmed that there is no compression on the front rotor, the engine is turning over on the key but not firing at all....
Please see the report below from the specialist that inspected it......

Notes:
1. Tried to start car
Car wouldn't start (Didn't appear to fire on any chamber), possible cause either flooded or an igni on fault.
2. Plugs were removed to see if they were flooded, bad plugs etc.
a: Rear Rotor ejected Petrol and there was compression on all three chambers.
b: Front Rotor ejected NO Petrol and there was ZERO compression on all three chambers.
Diagnosis:
It is our belief that the engine detonated knocking out one or mul ple Apex seals on the front Rotor. If only one Apex was
dropped it appears its taken out all three. If this has happened it's our experience that damage will have occurred to the
Rotor, Housings and Plates. These will also be possible damage to the Turbos due to the Apex Seal fragments being
ejected out of the exhaust.
Engine requires full rebuild with possible replacement of multiple damaged parts.

The car is declared sorn at the moment,
It is still mot'd until near end Aug 2024.
The car itself has done 102, 000 miles in total, the engine has done 11, 000 miles on the rebuild it had when I bought it.
It's been kept garaged and used as a 'high days and weekend' car for the 14 years I've owned it.
Before this engine problem occured the car was always ultra reliable and drove lovely... no rattles clonks or knocks.
It is with reluctance that I am advertising the car for sale, and I hope it goes to the right person who can get it sorted.
