Description

Honda CB77 350 race bike for sale £12, 000

Originally bought by the current owner as two road bikes, a 1966 250cc CB72 in 1978, and a 1963 305cc CB77 in 1983. The 250 was converted to a race bike around 1981 and raced on and off with moderate success until 1989 when it got the engine from the 305, and underwent a serious conversion to a 350 race bike.

The engine and transmission have been highly modified to good effect by the owner and amateur tuner who, together with Brian Brownrigg (M&B Racing), have prepared many classic Honda twins that have taken 4 CRMC championships, a TT win, and a few 'Magazine round' national wins. Not wishing to 'name drop', the owner's has undertaken tuning work for a number of well known racers both domestically and internationally.

Some engine / transmission specifics:-
64 bore Wiseco forged pistons with lovely thin modern rings

Steel cam chain tensioner rollers
Lightened and balanced crankshaft
Wygatty 5 speed CR gear cluster

Campaigned successfully during 1990-1993 at many classic events with numerous race wins and high placings. Classic Championship winner 1990 North West Centre ACU, 1992 'Ace of Aintree' 350 Classic, and 1993 CRMC 250 and 350 twins scoring 10 wins, 8 seconds and a third.

Mothballed after 1993 by my late father who kept it on display at home until I re-acquired it following his passing in 2015. It is presented almost exactly as last raced at CRMC Cadwell October 1993 taking the championship at that meeting with one round in hand.

Always a front runner often against stiff opposition from the later K series Honda twins, this is no dressed up pastiche - its the real deal and wears many battle scars with pride.

Brought out of retirement in May this year for old time's sake at Hoghton Tower sprint, scoring a class win and posting a respectable time.

This is a real timewarp piece of classic racing history.
