Description

Here for a very reluctant sale is my 50 years old Beetle.

In red as originally registered with some panels in a few different shades!

Basically, in great condition for its age, and looks cool being slightly lowered on powder coated wheels and in terms of the engine, brakes, body work, but the underside needs some welding which I have run out of time and money to do.

Built in the factory, I believe 25th November or 2nd December 1974 and first registered in the UK on 20th December 1974.

6 Previous owners according to V5 and the MOT history shows a speedometer change somewhere around 2011/ 2012 as it goes from 53025 to 20777. The mileage on MOT's thereafter 2012 seem current to the 32375 miles it is showing at time of placing this advert.

Starts on the first turn and drives like a bug should and is an excellent rolling, driving restoration project for someone as a DIY project.

Heater channels, sills and floor pans need welding and attention, but the body itself is in great condition.

I have spent £££’s on reconditioning the car including work on the engine, carb, ignition, new battery, serviced, changed the front drum brakes to disc brakes, headlights, chrome work, new Bluetooth stereo and speakers and comes with a box of spare bits and bobs, new door cards, spare windscreen (not needing to be changed, just a future spare) and an almost new weather cover from JustKampers.

I have loved owning this car for the last year and attended a couple of shows with him. I bought it from a guy who had garage stored it for the previous 2 years.

It is tax and MOT exempt and will make a great entry point into the classic VW scene for the right buyer who knows it needs some TLC to the chassis to get it up to scratch.

It drives fine but will be worth a trailer or tow pick up if a long journey is needed.

More photos or video available on request and please ask me any questions. I bought the car with the view of getting the welding done and keeping the patina on the external to show its 50 years - and not be a nut and bolt restoration, but a user friendly driveable classic.

The red colour really stands out and the powder coated wheels in old english white finish it off.

It has a slight California vibe to it in it's presentation and people often comment on how cool it looks when they see it out and about.

Classic VW Beetle's are a perfect gateway car as you can get every single part wether new or used, so many garages can work on them without computer aided diagnostics, and they are a fun happy car.

I am only selling as money has dried up, and I am having to sell a lot of my other possessions to make ends meet.
