KEY FACTS
This Volkswagen Beetle is a unique custom pickup, finished in the eye-catching shade of Gemini Blue Metallic.
It is now powered by a rebuilt and re-tuned 1. 6-litre Type 3 ‘Suitcase’ engine with twin Weber ICT 34 carburettors, coupled to a four-speed manual gearbox.
A combination of a 1971 Beetle and a Type 2 Pick Up, it has been built from the ground up at a cost of over £25, 000.
The original Beetle was understood to be a low-owner example with an excellent service history. HPI data shows only four keepers over 48 years.
Its chassis number indicates and September 1971 built date, and it appears to have been previously registered overseas. However, HPI data indicates that it was imported to the UK and registered in November 1973.
EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES
This custom VW has had its roof cut at the centre, and ‘chopped’ to produce a lower roof line, now featuring bespoke window glass all round, as well as replacement floor panels.
It rides on lowered suspension with McPherson Struts at the front and Megabug coilover springs and shocks at the rear.
It has a custom interior, with black bucket seats and a wood-rimmed Mountney steering wheel.
The Beetle’s original stamped service book will be included, along with a lever arch file of maintenance invoices and MOT certificates.
CONDITION
There is no known prior bodywork damage.
Its resprayed Gemini Blue Metallic finish is in excellent condition, now with just a few minor blemishes on the bonnet and around the VW badging. Needs tlc.
Inside, its re-trimmed black upholstery looks good, though the original switchgear controls are slightly faded, and a few scratches can be seen on the painted interior panels.
No electrical issues have been detected.
