This is my beautiful 1978 Volvo 245 GL. It is very reliable and extremely practical. Now of course it is very cool too.
I absolutely love this car and have used it locally as a second daily and have been on holiday to Cornwall in it with my 1970s frame tent and vintage camping gear.
The early 240 series cars with the round headlamps were only made between 1975 and 1978 model years. The first cars were built at the end of 1974 but were the 1975 model year.
Being a round headlamp car, this one is already very rare. However, this is also the much rarer GL model which came with the 2. 1 engine with fuel injection and overdrive. This makes the driving experience far more enjoyable than the more basic DL model which had a carburettor and a standard 4 speed box. The fact that it is a manual model is the icing on the cake.

The car has a few scabs and the odd cosmetic bits that will need to be kept an eye on but nothing that has got any worse since I have owned the car,
The odometer reads 93, 000 miles. As is common with these cars, this has stopped working although the speedometer works perfectly. The previous owner knew exactly when the odometer stopped which was about 10, 000 miles before he sold the car to me. I have done no more than 10, 000 miles, in fact probably a lot less. So the correct mileage would be no more than 113, 000. The classic 2. 1 red block engine of course will trundle on and on as long as it is properly maintained.
I love driving this car and it attracts ridiculous amounts of attention wherever it goes. I still might change my mind on this one so maybe best to give me a call sooner rather than later if you fancy owning one of the coolest cars in town.
