Inherited this car from my grandfather a few years ago. Not exactly sure of the details. The car received a full "back to the bone" restoration in the early 2000s with a book of pictures documenting the process. The car appears to have Porsche alloys during the restoration which included the required upgrades to the brakes/ calibers etc.
In general, the car looks great and appears in good condition. There are some rust patches that need attention (I've done my best to picture these. The car was mostly stored indoors but did have a few years exposed which is the reason for the surface rust. On inspection and from a specialist that worked on the car, underneath the car is in very good condition.
I left it to a VW specialist immediately after getting it to get the car running resulting in £2, 000 of work including:
- Brakes (all around) refurbished
- New Calibers
- New master cylinder replaced
- New Battery
- Engine Removed, head and barrels taken off - seals fitted
- New rear crankshaft oil seal fitted
- New push rod tubes and seals fitted
-Tappets set and new recover gaskets fitted
- New Oil pressure switch fitted
- Engine Assembled using new seals
- Exhaust Manifold welded
- Two new tyresCar looks great, colour stands out and the alloys really set it off.
