Description
Pumpkin is my 1979 late Bay Window VW Transporter. The colour matches the original colour on the VW “birth certificate” - Marino Yellow - which 99% of people would call orange! Hence the name Pumpkin. This document also confirms the engine is the original 1. 6 petrol it first left Hanover, Germany with (see photographs).
Included are;
Four brand new touring tyres - fitted 19 May 24
Rock and roll bed by Rusty Lee which is like new.
Matching fake leather trim all round in cream and white - except the cockpit seats which are the original brown leather ones.
Funky 70s curtains.
Stove and sink fitted - but need to be connected.
New fuse box fitted. New splitter relay installed a fortnight ago.
Leisure battery.
Brand new main battery - 4 weeks old.
SPACE pop top with sleeping area for one large adult or two smaller humans.
Essentially much of the driving area is original minus the door cards and an 8 ball gear knob.
Windscreen was replaced about 1500 miles ago and is like new.
Steering wheel has Wolfsburg logo.

The gutters were replaced in 2016 (receipt included) and these now need to be mended in places. There is rust mainly located in the gutter above the passenger and driver doors (see pics).
Some small rust patches that I’ve included pictures of - these are very much localised.
Overall the van is sound and has served me well for weekend cruises and camping with my daughters. Feel free to ask any questions. Test drives can be arranged. Birth Certificate paid for from VW to prove engine and chassis numbers etc and factory it was made in - Hanover Germany.
She is mechanically solid and has been very reliable as a second car. I’ve done around 4, 000 miles in her since 2019.
The roof is excellent. Made by a company called SPACE it’s a modern and reliable Westy style pop top. £3000 receipts for this from Beetle Link.
Receipts for a big restore in 2016 totalling £5000. And I have spent have spent an additional £5000 since I took on ownership in 2019. Receipts included.
Pumpkin is a reliable and solid van with original petrol engine that has seen us good for 4000 miles of camping and weekend cruises since 2019.
Internally there is a;
Rusty Lee Rock and roll bed (excellent)
Matching seats, bed and door cards and rear all round (V Good)
But I kept the cockpit seats which are the original brown leather ones.
