Description

*** Available again as buyer had a change of heart***

This car has only had 4 previous owners from new before me and has been fully restored by myself. completely standard body and interior wise with only a couple of subtle modifications (alloys, front slightly lowered and larger engine). The 1200 model in my opinion is a more desirable 70’s Beetle as it has many parts shared with the earlier 60’s models (small rear lights, blade bumpers, horn grills, small headlining etc). I have owned it for 10 years and have gone over every inch of this car and many many parts have been replaced or refurbished.

Full body off restoration. All rust cut out and replaced with new metal. Approx. 30 new panels/ repair panels used including:

2x new floorpans
Front framehead panel
Napoleons hat repair panel
2x new heater channels
2x rear crossmember
2x rear quarter repair panels
2x A post repair panels
2x inner wing repair panels
4x bumper mount repair panels
Rear valance
Front valance
Spare wheel well
2x engine bay side panels
4x new wings
New bonnet
Rust free replacement passenger door
Drivers door lower repair panel

Full 2k respray in 2020 in the original colour (L20D Clementine Orange) including inner wings, inside of all panels, boot and engine bay – Original paint retained where possible in the interior. It's not 100% perfect but is superb for 53 years old.
Floorpan fully restored and resprayed in Upol Raptor black
All new rubber seals throughout
All New brakes, New suspension parts including Shock absorbers, balljoints, track rod ends. All hardware cleaned & painted
Wheels refurbished and new tyres fitted
All cables replaced throughout (clutch, accelerator, heater cables, handbrake cables)
New fuel tank and fuel lines including the pipe through the tunnel.

It has an adjustable front beam so it can be lowered easily. Its currently about 1” lower than stock at the front.
Anthracite Empi 8 spoke alloys
Stainless taper tip exhaust tailpipes on standard silencer – sounds great!

1600cc engine has been Fully rebuilt including all new bearings, seals and gaskets. New clutch, alternator conversion, new electronic ignition distributor, painted and detailed engine bay, I have only done about 2000 miles since the restoration was completed and the 1600 engine is great at keeping up with modern traffic up to a certain point! It will happily cruise at 60 mph on a dual carriageway with some power in reserve.

New bumpers, lights, running boards, number plates
Complete original alabaster grey/ white interior seats & Door panels sourced and restored. Original headliner in good condition, New carpets, period style radio. I do have some rear seatbelts for it but they are not currently fitted.

It is MOT and tax exempt and classic insurance is only about £150 for the year.

Its currently insured with an agreed value of £10, 000 but I am only asking £8500 for it or nearest offer.
