Myrtle has been owned by a lovely lady called Jackie, who bought her 32 years ago, having had just 3 previous owners & shes been camping at Putsborough in North Devon, about 5 miles from us every year since then. Unfortunately Jackie, can no longer drive her, so its time for someone else to continue the story. Mertyl is a 1966 , 11 window Devon Spaceway splitscreen camper , who arrived & was first registered in England on the 17th February of that year. We have the original registration booklet, that shows she started life in Wimbledon & stayed in London until Jackie bought her, at which time Mertyl moved down to Salisbury. Jackie , with her family have continually used their lovely English bus throughout their ownership & have had various work done it her to keep her always road worthy. They've changed the cooker unit to give more room & just recently added an Isotherm compressor fridge, a leisure battery & electric hook up, so a really valuable extra feature. At some point the engine was updated to a 1600cc with twin Webber carbs, so gives Mertyl a little more performance to keep up with todays traffic. She also had CSP disc brakes added up front. We do have some receipts for restoration work, done over the years including, interior work done by Calypso Campers to the upholstery. I absolutely love buses like this, she's not perfect, she has a little bubbling along the bottom of the front panel . together with the odd knock & dent around her, but she's a RHD splitscreen with a lovely cared for story, that's been maintained very well over the years . I wouldn't hesitate to drive Mertyl anywhere & any distance. She's as honest & trustworthy as your Grandma & someone is going to be very happy & proud to have her a spart of their family now.
