EXTREMELY RELUCTANT SALE- MOT FAIL (20. 9. 2024)
Owned for last 10 years, comfiest, most reliable car ever owned now sadly failed MOT & game over aspect for me is -
a) emissions (may need engine repair or replacement
b) possible gearbox shaft pin / bearing now also fallen off
Car still drives & runs fine, gearbox feels a bit woolly & don't want to risk driving it further.
Minor damage last year on offside rear, unsure if insurance write off or not but merely a dent & broken rear light (since fixed) yet insurance companies want to write such old cars off these days if they have a sharp frost on them!
Bodywork a bit tatty in places & was my next project but
THE GOOD BITS ARE-
Split dual level climate control has always works & still does
(ICE COLD & recently regassed - although it's never leaked out)
Unreliable self leveling rear suspension REMOVED & COIL-OVER conversion.
Tasteful COMPLETE ANDRIOD conversion so vehicle now includes-
INTEGRAL DASHCAM
REVERSING CAMERA
OFF LINE SAT NAV
CD, DVD, MP3, MP4 player
HANDS FREE TELPHONE & BLUETOOTH etc
OBD REALTIME BLUETOOTH LINK so --SPEEDO, RPM, MASS AIRFLOW.. ENGINE LOAD etc etc.. every sensor
displayed on programmable display
(satellite speed)
OBD ALSO HAS LIVE, IN BUILT FAULT READER / RESET OPTIONS FOR ENGINE MANAGEMENT LIGHTS
ANDRIOD MAIN , DISPLAY SCREEN STILL HAS THE " REMOVABLE SCREEN PROTECTOR" ON IT
BMW FACTORY FITTED FIRST AID KIT STILL LOCATED UNDER PASSENGER SEAT & UN-OPENED FROM NEW
BMW FACTORY FITTED "EMERGENCY TOOLS" NEW & UNUSED IN REAR TAILGATE
(Separate tailgate glass no longer works & boot gas stats now getting weak, may need replacing)
Wheel speed sensor has intermittent fault so speedo sometimes stops working but as already mentioned., andriod also has satellite speed shown on display anyway)
4 x good tyres, (2 x brand new, non-brand) (2 x older ones good makes)
I sincerely hope someone can fix this modern classic & keep it going.
Oh.. the andriod system also has ROAD ASSISTANT/ LANE ASSISTANT etc but I've turned it off as became annoying.
Andriod system also has many many other faeteures I've NOT activated incliding voice operated commands etc. (All WIFI / microphones, cameras etc fitted)
