Description
1987 BMW 525e (E28) – 2. 7 – D396 MRL
A truly standout example of the iconic BMW E28 525e, presented in fantastic condition with very low miles, low ownership, and a level of care that sets it apart from most on the market today. This is a rust-free, lightly restored, and beautifully preserved car that has clearly been cherished throughout its life.
Originally sourced from Four Star Classics in 2019, it has benefited from their careful selection and has since continued to receive fastidious maintenance, including a major service, recent wheel refurbishment, and a set of new matching Uniroyal Rainsports.
The car retains a huge amount of originality—factory pinstripes, original supplying dealer number plates, and a remarkably clean, unmodified specification.
Inside, it boasts the sought-after houndstooth interior, electric front windows, tilt & slide sunroof, and a wonderfully preserved cabin that reflects its low mileage and careful ownership.
Recently treated to an array of NOS (new old stock) parts, the car feels exceptionally tight and sorted on the road. It starts on the button, pulls smoothly from the torquey 2. 7-litre engine, and is an absolute joy to cruise in.

The E28 525i isn't typically associated with a 2. 7L engine; the E28 525e (or 528e in North America) is the model that used the economy-focused 2. 7L M20 "Eta" (Greek letter eta, for economy) engine, known for low-RPM torque and excellent fuel efficiency, not high revs, featuring a long-stroke design for better economy over the standard 2. 5L M20.
