Description
Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evo 1 1992
Dreaming of the Monte Carlo Rally
This Evolution, registered on 13 July 1992, was entered by the second owner in 2008 into the Lancia Historic Register, certified by the then Conservator Guido Lamperti. The car has undergone, in use, a partial restoration affecting only the bodywork - repainted - and respects the original configuration. In 2016, from the fourth owner it was entered into ASI with CRS. It has also been appraised by the Federperiti Academy. The 1992 season was the one that saw the debut of the Delta HF Integrale "Evoluzione": the unofficial appellation underscored that it was in front of a car deeply renewed compared to its predecessors, especially regarding suspension geometry. Although not officially backed by the manufacturer, from the early Monte Carlo rally tests it was clear that it would be the Deltona – nickname by which it would colloquially be known among enthusiasts – the car to beat throughout the championship. The Turin coupe finished on the podium in all ten rounds of the manufacturers' championship, winning eight wins and four doubles; at the end of the year came the sixth consecutive marque title for Lancia, while in the drivers' championship Kankkunen and Didier Auriol finished second and third respectively, after a dramatic season finale that gifted the title to Sainz.
