Description
Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evo 1 1992
Dreaming of the Monte Carlo Rally
This Evolution, registered on 13 July 1992, was entered by the second owner in 2008 into the Lancia Historic Register, certified by the then Conservator Guido Lamperti. The car has undergone, in use, a partial restoration relating to the bodywork - repainted - and respects the original configuration. In 2016, from the fourth owner it was registered with ASI with CRS. It has also been given an appraisal by the Federperiti Academy. The 1992 season was the one that saw the debut of the Delta HF Integrale "Evolution": the unofficial epithet underlined that it was a car deeply renewed compared with its predecessors, especially with regard to the geometry of the suspension. Although not officially supported by the manufacturer, from the early Monte Carlo rally tests it was clear that it would still be the Deltona – a nickname by which it would become colloquially known among enthusiasts – the car to beat in the course of the championship. The Turin coupé finished on the podium in all ten races in the constructors' championship, securing eight wins and four double-headers; at the end of the year it achieved the sixth consecutive make title for Lancia, while in the drivers' championship Kankkunen and Didier Auriol finished second and third, after a chaotic season finale that handed the title to Sainz.
