I have this 1999 MGF 1. 8 75th Anniversary for sale. Supplied new by Rayrigg Rover of Kendal, this is one of just 2000 produced worldwide while just 500 were made available for the UK market. Interior and exterior door handles, grille and bodyside air intakes are all finished in chrome.
Before I tell you more, let me tell you about Goodwood Sportscars and why should you buy from me:
I have been buying and selling sports cars (mainly Mazda MX5s) for over 20 years now. While I'm a car dealer, I consider myself to be a car enthusiast above all else. I'll only sell cars that actual interest me as an enthusiast. I live, sleep and breath quick cars and have sold literally thousands of performance cars over a thirty year period. I have competed in various forms of motorsport including the Scottish Hillclimb Championship. So I'm pretty good at spotting a good sports car and at making one work to the best of its ability.
Back to our car: mileage is quite low at 66400 and the car is in lovely condition throughout. Specification includes power steering, electric windows, remote central locking and 16” alloy wheels. Paintwork and bodywork are exceptionally good with no rust anywhere and its an exceptionally clean, good looking car.
Inside, everything seems to works it should and everything is in clean and smart condition. It has its original stereo system fitted and this works well. The leather seats are in good order though there is a little wear on the driver’s seat bolster commensurate with its age. It has a set of the correct MGF carpet mats fitted too.
Over the last few years, this has had a fortune spent on it. In 2017 and at 58400 miles it had: Head gasket replaced along with two new piston liners and rings. New clutch New brake discs and pads all round Water pump New alternator and lots more with a total bill of £3248.
Then in April 2022, the car was sold by MGF specialists Trophy Cars (for £4995) and at that time, had head gasket, water pump and cambelt replaced (I'm guessing this work was carried out again so that Trophy Cars could confidently supply a certificate stating that head gasket, water pump etc were replaced, something they seem to do with all of their cars - I have the certificate too). This was at 61371 miles - 5000 miles ago.
Apart from earlier services which are all stamped up in the accompanying service book, later services were at at:
61104 April 21
61371 April 22
63607 April 23
65671 April 24
More recently, I have replaced the thermostat, housing and the steel water pipes and in preparation for its sale, its just been comprehensively checked over and serviced with new oil, spark plugs and filters and coolant. It has also just been MOT tested for another 12 months.
Out on the road, it drives as a good MGF should with strong performance. Handling is very good indeed with no unusual noises and with good ride quality. The brakes are in good order with discs and pads having with plenty of life. Both gearbox and clutch perform just as they should - its simply a very good drive. The car has two keys and central locking fobs, its original tonneau cover, original Owner's Handbook pack and service book and there is a file full of receipts showing work carried out over the years. Its clearly a car that has been cherished and very well looked after and this could easily be used every day. When new, this car would have had wood trim in various parts of the interior. The previous owner preferred a more low-key black trim as shown but I still have the original wood trim which will come with the car and could be fitted if required. The cherished number plate is to remain with the car.
It looks brilliant and drives exceptionally well: Price is £3795. The car is located near Berwick upon Tweed, Northumberland TD15 near the Scottish Border and I can collect any prospective buyer from the local train station or I can arrange to have the car delivered by a trusted transport company at extra cost. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions – if you are genuinely interested, you’ll have plenty and I’m happy to talk about cars all day. I'm also happy to give you an honest description and if there any faults or issues with the car, I much prefer to tell you up front, so you are clear about what you are buying.
