FINAL REDUCED PRICE This particular 230 SL was purchased in early 2021, and has been enjoyed over weekends and on sunny days taking the car to various shows and meetings, Apart from the usual fluid and filter changes carried out during my ownership a list of work can be seen below.
As a European model, this 230 SL was exported to the USA at some point in its life before being re-imported to the EU in early 2021. The car underwent an extensive restoration in the 1990s, photos of which were included with the car when it was sold.
My plan was to keep the car as a retirement toy, but due to a change in circumstances this beautiful SL is now for sale and looking for a new home. In the car folder are the registration document, the customs declaration for the aforementioned import back to the EU after its time in the States, numerous invoices and photos from the restoration in the 90s (photos can be sent by post), plus there are numerous books and literature about the 230SL family, spare parts catalogues and other documentation. I know of at least three previous owners in the US, of which I am the only one in the EU, having brought the car from the US, but the actual number is uncertain as details of previous owners at the time the car was sold have not survived.
The black leather seats are in lovely condition with just a charming patina of wear indicating regular use, but with much care and attention to maintaining the condition of the seat covers. The carpets are in excellent condition and show only minimal signs of wear, while the dashboard shows no signs of warping or cracking as far as I can tell.
The centre console is in excellent condition, as is the rest of the wood trim throughout the interior (all new), including the dashboard. The painted part of the dashboard is also in very good condition. The door panels are in excellent condition with no marks or creases to speak of, the interior door latches are very good and even the interior hinge area is wonderfully clean. Like the interior, the exterior of this W113 is in excellent condition and has obviously been cared for throughout its life.
The paintwork is in fantastic condition, including that of the hardtop.
The chrome bumpers and trim are all in mirror-like condition and again show no damage or dents.
All four wheels are in excellent condition and fitted with matching Vreedestein Classic tyres in the style of the period. Both the soft top and hard top are in very good condition with the former also showing no cracks or damage and the rear window is in excellent condition with no cracks or discolouration. Under the bonnet, the 2. 3 litre straight six engine presents in very good condition and shows no externally visible signs of leaks, fluid loss or heat damage, nor any tell-tale signs of problems that would set alarm bells ringing. Having driven the car to a number of shows, events and holidays during my ownership and having carried out the usual fluid and filter changes for a car of this era, there are no faults with the car. The chassis and underbody have been CO2 blasted and are in good condition. The car was under sealed after CO2 blasting approx 1 year ago. 1 year ago.
The car is sold freshly serviced, so the new owner can enjoy this car immediately! Also, both rear brake cylinders, master cylinder and brake fluid have been recently replaced.
