Description
HONDA CB175 k6 1972. Just 22k miles showing, but 30 years standing. Registered Historic Vehicle. Now in good running order, mostly original. Mechanically sound but cosmetically challenged! Ride or restore.
I rescued this old Honda from a garage in Wales where it had stood for nearly 30 years judging from the old tax disc dated 1996. I went through everything to get it back on the road, replacing a few things along the way as required. It now runs as it should and I've done enough miles to know all the gears work, the brakes are excellent, and all electrics including bulbs and starter are perfect.
I have made no attempt to restore the bike which although fundamentally sound is cosmetically challenged by surface rust, although the tank is excellent inside. The tyres are old and a little perished, but hold pressure fine. The seat is in great condition, with the owners handbook in its little compartment underneath.
I think it may have been a US spec bike diverted and sold new in the UK where it was registered in March 1972. The V5, in my name, now correctly describes it as a Historic Vehicle (so no road tax payable or MOT test required), and says there have been 5 former owners. It has an after market lhs silencer, but otherwise appears standard. It has the rear fender splash guard which went into the US market. So here is a great example of a small Honda in (almost) totally original and unmolested specification it had when new 53 years ago.
I have achieved my goal of returning another lovely old Honda to the road for the next owner to enjoy riding or to restore.
