Listed here is my 1997 G Limited import MR2 'tin top' with factory LSD gearbox. This car has had 10 owners, I have been in ownership of this car since Oct 2022. This car has had 3 years of clean MOT passes and is next due testing in Oct 2025. The odometer is still in kilometers however the cluster has been converted to miles per hour. I have original black master key and 2 copies.
The following list is all work that was carried out within my ownership, this is all accounted for in receipts and with pictures throughout the restoration:
○ New cambelt and water pump (2022) with a second water pump in 2024 due to the first pump being improperly fitted.
○ Rebuilt rear brake calipers (2023).
○ New clutch (2024).
○ New inner sill fabrication (2024).
○ New outer sill fabrication (2024).
○ Restoration in the rear arches, bottom of driver and passenger door and car floor (2024).
○ New battery (2024).
○ New alternator (2024).
○ Mongoose aftermarket cat-back exhaust fitted (2024).
○ Original 15" wheels with good condition tyres (2025).
Service history disappointingly was not provided to me at purchase and I do not have evidence of work prior to Oct 2022, outside of what is physically visible on the car listed below:
○ New brake discs and braided brake lines.
○ New Billstein B6 front shock absorbers.
○ Restoration of the rear pockets, both sides.
This car is mechanically and structurally solid however does have some areas of attention:
○ Central locking system unlocks both doors however doors must be locked individually.
○ Original paint is now very tired with a couple of scuffs and would benefit from a respray.
○ Front bumper, wings and bonnet were swapped for revision 1 import parts by a previous owner under the false understanding that the originals were UK spec and not JDM.
○ Original paint on the wheels has some corrosion and would benefit a refurb.
○ Driver's seat bolster has torn and is in poor condition.
○ 2 chips in the windscreen outside of the drivers immediate view so these will not be picked up on an MOT. This damage was there when I bought the car.
