XT500 1970s Paris Dakar Sonauto Replica - unique XT500 to celebrate the glory days of the Dakar Rally.
XT500C 1E6 Model 1976 (1E6011372) used as basis for build, first registered in South Africa in 1979.
This Dakar model was constructed in SA and imported to the UK.
Dating Certificate and original SA documents available.
Registered in the UK in 2024. Historic Tax Class, ULEZ exempt.
I had the bike built during the Covid era being a huge fan of the Dakar machines. Everything on the bike is new/ refurbished and built from the ground up. The odometer reading is incorrect, it has done about 20km on it in my ownership.
In the UK I replaced the original points system to an electronic ignition for easier starting. The bike has been stored in my garage since last winter, but starts and runs as it should (3rd kick after not being started for 6 months).
This is a machine for the enthusiast and collector. It has had some money poured into it.
I had it built as I could not find one in Europe. It can of course be ridden of road as it was designed for, but to date it has mainly sat in my garage.
