Description
Low mileage 1981 TR7 2. 0 DHC, Has just over 64000 miles on the clock (with history) and has covered a little under 100 miles in the last 15 years. It's now had a chunk of money and effort thrown at it and has become a much improved and usable proposition. Work done:
- New Seatbelts
- New seat diaphragms
- Doors stripped and rebuilt with fresh weather strips
- Running 15" (MGF) wheels with fresh nuts and Toyo 185/ 55 tyres
- Axle stripped, painted and rebuilt - new bearings and rear brakes with fresh oil and gasket
- New rear brake hard lines
- Braided flexis for clutch and brakes
- New rear suspension
- Rear end fully poly bushed
- New fuel sender
- New hard fuel line and ethanol friendly R9 rubber piping with a new filter
- Rebuilt brake master cylinder
- New clutch master cylinder
- Spin on oil filter conversion
- Engine has fresh oil and filter
- Brake fluid has been flushed
- Electrical gremlins tackled plus a new fuel gauge, fresh (blade) fuse box and relays
- New battery
- Chassis has been internally cleaned, rust treated and waxed
- New track rod ends
- External surfaces underneath have been treated with rust neutraliser, seam sealed and then painted
As well as numerous smaller jobs along the way, all hardware has been replaced, threads recut and copper-slipped on assembly.
There is a box of new parts to come with the car (basically enough to finish off the rebuild to the front end):
- Front dampers
- Ball joints
- Poly bushes for anti roll bar and control arms
Other points to note:
- There is an assortment of spares and consumables plus also spare bumpers
- Large history file supporting a genuine ~64k
- Original toolkit
- Two spare wheels
- Hood is in really good condition with no creases to the windows
- Engine has been converted to run Luminition electronic ignition
- K&N Air filters
- Front brakes run green stuff pads and dimpled/ grooved discs with braided hoses
This will make a manageable project for someone with the main items being the corrosion to the wheel arches (not rusted through though) and the rear end repair blowing over to match the body.
The car is fully running now and the engine is amazingly strong and keeps up with modern traffic, idles well, doesn't overheat and changes gear smoothly. Even though the front suspension has yet to be refreshed it feels fine and easily handles a 50 mile spin on a sunny afternoon with no drama.
The V5 is in my name, is registered as historic (tax and MOT exempt) and the car is located in Cheshire, CW2.
