Finished in Astral Silver with Blue Cloth interior, this immaculate 230TE is the definitive Mercedes-Benz estate car.
It was originally delivered by Garard Mann, Coventry to The Harris Sheldon Group, a Birmingham based engineering company, who kept the car until 2019 when the car was sold via a well regarded Mercedes-Benz independent garage to the 'Danz Benz' collection. With this in mind, it goes without saying that the car has been cherished throughout its life and maintained to a high standard - in its early years by Gerard Mann / MB Coventry, then up to 2019 by WDM Cars.
During my ownership, the car has benefited from thorough servicing, renewal of brake fluid, 4 new Uniroyal tyres, as per the original fitment and check over of all systems. The only thing that has needed to been replaced through malfunction has been a coolant temp sensor. In depth detailing has been carried out to the Astral Silver paintwork and the car looks absolutely first class. There is absolutely no rust present on the car, as noted by its exceptionally clean MOT record. The front inner wings, sills, rear window apertures and rear subframe mounts are all factory fresh. Everything on the car functions just as it should - the central locking, power windows, sunroof, lights and wipers and heating and ventilation are all perfect and the car is an absolute delight to drive. It is also fitted with a lovely original Blaupunkt radio and has a new power antenna.
The little 230 engine does not make for a racing car but cruising at motorway speed and keeping up with traffic is not remotely difficult for it. The ride is supple and the steering and brakes are perfect. It is very difficult to fault this car.
W124s are becoming fairly rare now, and the estate cars are the best and most sought after of them all. Finding another car presented in this condition would be a hard task and I’m confident that this car would suit the driver or collector equally.
