Description
Lovely low mileage, low owner 1998 Jaguar XJ8 Sport, listing on behalf of a friend too inept to use the internet properly.
I’ve driven this a few times recently and it seems a real peach for the money. With only circa 65k miles on the clock and a good history, it drives beautifully with no knocks, clunks, rattles or hesitancy. It really does glide down the road. The 3. 2 litre V8 is decent on fuel and a recent centre box delete gives it a lovely rumble, without being obnoxious or too un-Jag-like.
Within the last month it has also had new front discs and pads, a NSF wheel bearing and a new oil breather pipe.
It appears to be one of the better Jags of this age in terms of bodywork, especially at this price. There is slight crazing in the lacquer on the boot and roof, and it looks like an overzealous polisher has burnt through the lacquer in small areas on the driver’s wing top. I have tried to show these areas in the photos and have also included shots of each wheel arch.
Inside, the black interior contrasts nicely with the silver bodywork. Being a Sport, it has manual, unheated seats (less to go wrong) and, being a Jaguar, it has a headlining pinned in place. There are no warning lights illuminated on the dash and it starts first time, without trouble.
It has four good tyres, nice wheels and an MOT until June 9th. It comes with a generous pile of paperwork, bookpack, two sets of keys (including Valet key) and is generally a good looking car that drives very nicely. It has had only 4 previous owners.
It is eligible for classic insurance so looks like a good, cheap way into old Jaguar ownership and a really nice project to titivate further. It would also make a lovely retro daily.
Collection from near Thirsk and I’m happy to collect anyone from the local train station. My friend took my XF away and left his here, she’s a big girl and I don’t really have driveway space to keep it for long so please don’t mess around.
