Description
Reluctantly selling our beloved Leyland Mini 850, Freddie. We've had him over 10 years but recently he just isn't getting driven as much as he deserves to be driven so have decided now is the right time to find him a new home.
Since we bought Freddie over 10 years ago we have fully restored him changing quite a few things including rebuilding the engine, replacing the rear subframe, new exhaust, replacing brakes and brake lines, replacing the full interior and a full respray.
Originally he was all black with a brown vinyl interior which had really seen better days so we replaced the whole interior with a black and white houndstooth which we think looks great. We also replaced the old dashboard with the earlier 60s style dashboard and shelf. He was fully resprayed inside and out in an original British Leyland colour 'Smoke Grey' and we chose to still go with a black roof. The only part not resprayed is inside the engine bay which is still black.
Manufactured in 1978 but first registered in May 1981. He is tax and MOT exempt, however, to show he is still definitely roadworthy I have recently put him through an MOT, so he now currently has a passed MOT even though he doesn't actually need it.
A few small issues came up doing this most recent MOT which I had sorted at a local classic car workshop, costing around £1000 to sort. There are still a few advisories that a new owner might want to look at in the future.
Overall he is in pretty good condition throughout considering his age. There are a few marks on the exterior paintwork and bumpers and some minor rust spots in places such as in the gutter part of the roof. He is not concours condition but in this colour which you don't see that often he turns heads and gets a lot of compliments.
Mileage is around 43, 610 and the V5 says he's had 11 previous owners. We don't have a full service history but we have a folder with quite a lot of paperwork showing all the parts and work we've done on him since we've owned him.
We'll also include a box of quite a few spare parts including a new headlining kit which we haven't got round to fitting and will also include a car cover for him as well.
He usually starts first time and runs and stops well. He is a 47 year old car so if you're not familiar with driving classic cars it's a lot of fun but a very different driving experience to modern cars!
Happy to answer any questions.
I've listed for £5, 500 but open to offers.
