1986 Lotus Excel SE.
Showing 105k but had documented speedo change at 78k adding 20k, so actually 85k, old speedo included. Extensive service history including speedo change.
This is no low mileage show queen but something even rarer. A very good condition very well serviced, ultra reliable Lotus that's been used as a daily for the last few years.
Just had a full C service including cambelt, valve clearances, engine seals and front discs and pads. MOT until November 2025.
Engine is the 2. 2 high compression version which has been regularly serviced and runs very well. No nasty noises or smoke and starts without fail whatever the weather.
Has galvanized chassis and seat belt mounts and is generally in good condition underneath.
Interior (in blue) could do with a little tlc here and there but everything works as it should (except Speedo) and the roof lining is not sagging.
Exterior, is very good in gleaming white with just a few age related imperfections. Again everything works as it should and it's had a ceramic coating just over a year ago.
Bad points - interior is good but could do with some tlc here and there and speedo currently doesn't work, JDO can rebuild these and it comes with two Speedos.
Don't really want to sell but need to concentrate on other members of the fleet.
This is a fairly rare Lotus model that gives all the driving experience you'd expect from a Lotus with good reliability, practicality and reasonable economy. It gets admiring looks and comments wherever I go (can't even get fuel without people wanting to talk about it and get pictures). I've enjoyed every moment of owning and driving this car and will be sad to see it go but would love for it to go to a good home where someone will enjoy it as much as me. As long as nothing changes will also be tax exempt next year.
