This long-wheelbase 1989 Mercedes-Benz 280 GE is arguably one of the finest, most original examples of the legendary ‘Geländewagen’ currently on the market. UK-supplied from new and presented in its factory-correct Astral Silver with complementing chequered cloth upholstery, it has been maintained to the highest standard with no expense spared.
Under the bonnet sits the dependable 2. 7-litre naturally aspirated inline-six, delivering approximately 156 bhp. Power is sent to all four wheels via a smooth four-speed automatic transmission, complete with locking differentials and selectable high and low range — ensuring true off-road capability.
It rides on original 15-inch five-spoke wheels, now fitted with new Continental CrossContact ATR tyres. The underside is remarkably clean and well-preserved for a classic off-roader, having received the same level of attention and care as the body and mechanicals.
