The Morris features a professional Convertible Conversion by renowned Morris Minor specialist Charles Ware, completed in 2010 along with a comprehensive restoration at a cost in the region of £14500. At the time of the conversion other safety and comfort enhancements were completed including: alternator conversion, a radio fitted in the glove compartment, electric screen cleaner whilst still controlled through the original control, brake servo for safety and also seat belts all round. The engine was rebuilt and the undercarriage and components have all been professionally treated/ restored and are free of corrosion.
The roof is finished in the lovely blood red to complement the interior and contrast with the Old English White exterior.
She drives remarkably well, keeping up with the traffic and moving through the gears very smoothly, a real pleasure to ride in. The brake and chassis enhancements (such as the front brake disc conversion, new rear gas shock absorbers, replacement steering bushes and rubber bushes changed with more efficient poly bushes) definately improve the driving experience and make it a very usable classic.
There is substantial documentation of the restoration work. A selection of other maintenance and upgrade highlights to note:
• Electronic ignition conversion in 2018.
• Kick plate renewal to stainless steel.
• HPLS gear oil treatment which improves gear shifting and lowers gearbox noise/ stops leaks.
• Replacement ‘spin on’ style oil filter.
• Brake master cylinder enhancement to allow viewing of levels in engine compartment.
• Visual brake reservoir installed for safety in engine compartment with copper pipes.
• Water temperature and oil pressure indicators installed.
• Wheel rims replaced with Genuine Morris Minor Van wheels and installed with Bridgestone Escopia EP25 tyres for increased comfort and increased suitability for UK road use.
