Description
Extremely rare Vincent Black Shadow Series C from January 1951.
The production motorcycle fastest in the world is a fact, not a slogan! Philip Vincent.
The "Black Shadow" are legendary motorcycles produced by the builder-turned-rider Philip Vincent from 1948. He aimed to build the fastest motorcycles in the world. The Black Shadow is regarded as the first superbike. The Series A and B were the early ones, but the pinnacle was Series C, the most developed, launched in 1948. The 998 cc V‑twin was the most powerful on the market at the time and allowed the machine to reach 125 mph (over 200 km/ h).
This example had been in a collection since 1991. Its provenance is clear; indeed, we know its full history as shared by the five consecutive owners. Magnificently restored in 1991 by a renowned Vincent specialist (over 40 years of experience), it has also benefited from some notable improvements:
- Two 5-inch Smiths gauges
- Front brakes from the Black Lightning
- Aluminium Borrani rims.
Carte grise française collection."
