Description
VW Beetle 1302”S” Superbeetle 1972
I am offering my Superbeetle for sale as my wife has now a driver’s licence and we need two cars in the house that can be used daily.
I have owned the car for over a year, and it has been great to own, and has never let me down.
• In October of 2023 the car has undergone an extensive mechanical restoration with expenses reaching £2400 in parts – please see invoice in pictures.
• I have added electronic ignition getting rid of the mechanical points that can be prone to failure.
• The car is very reliable and have no doubt it could reach any part of the country driving with no additional preparation.
• Aesthetically the car is very well presented and very attractive with it’s “Rally Look” getting inspiration from popular races in California in the 1970’s and 1980’s like the Baja 1000.
• Please see pictures of Tamiya and Solido model reproductions.
• Being 53 years old the car is not perfect, It needs to be seen to understand if it matches the buyer’s expectations.
• I have recently spent almost £700+ in new front bumper, new running boards, Hella lights and other bits to improve the looks.
• I have also added rear 3-point seatbelts making it safer and a family friendly classic.
• Everything works as it should, with all heater and defrosting vents working perfectly which is rare in Vw Beetles.
If interested please call me on the details below, Joe.
Please see below a description of the 1302S model from the web:
The VW Beetle 1302S was a model of the Volkswagen Beetle, it was introduced in 1970 and featured a 1600 cc engine, providing 60 bhp (SAE). The 1302S also included MacPherson strut front suspension, which improved handling and allowed for a larger boot as well as front disc brakes. One could call this the “GTI” version of the Beetle, but keeping the iconic flat front windscreen design.
Key Features of the VW Beetle 1302S:
• Engine: 1600 cc engine with 60 bhp (SAE).
• Suspension: MacPherson strut front suspension for improved handling.
• Brakes: Front disc brakes, a feature of the 1302 and 1303 Super Beetles.
• Handling: Enhanced handling due to MacPherson strut front suspension.
• Boot Space: Increased boot space thanks to the new suspension design.
• Overall, the VW Beetle 1302S was a significant improvement over earlier Beetle models, offering improved handling, larger boot space, and front disc brake
• Rare model, just 260 cars are licenced to drive on UK roads today. This is a great family-friendly classic, cheap to run and own and very well respected and admired among VW owners (1302S models are quite rare). MOT exempt and ULEZ compliant. Comes with some spares and a binder full of invoices of work done on the car from the 1980's until now.
