Description
One of the first of the 600cc Dominators, registered November 1955 so a 1956 Model Year bike.
It was partly restored 15-20 years ago and I got it in 2019 with a few issues still to sort out. I’ve done about 1000 miles a year on it since then. In that time I have:
• Refurbished the magneto with an Easy Cap conversion so if the condenser goes again., it’s easy to replace.
• Belt drive and Commando Clutch
• Respoked the rear wheel in 2024 . The spokes now go “Plink” not “Dumk”
• New tyres in 2024
• Oil tap with magneto cutout to stop wet sumping and to stop me forgetting to turn the oil on.
• Head refurb ( It has a custom valve guide LHS Exhaust as the previous one was similarly custom). That’s when I found it has been resleeved in the past and is on standard pistons.
Its up for sale as despite a refurbed mag and a carb clean its becoming a reluctant starter and I have a knee replacement. I suspect you’ll probably want to check the mag timing hasn’t slipped and the ATD isn’t sticky. I’m going to go for something a bit more modern now.
Its not a concours bike at all, I ride my bikes and tend to keep them in the same sort of condition as an average caring owner would back in the day. Good, but not in showroom state
