1971 Fiat 500 L (Lusso)
Testing the waters to see if anyone wants to buy a timeless classic Fiat 500. Only reason for sale is that I feel a hankering for an American Classic.
Originally from Northern Italy near the Austrian border, this car was imported to the UK in 2020 and has lived here since. I have owned it since early this year and have loved driving it, this car gets smiles from everyone who sees it and rides in it.
Performance wise, its got a 500cc 2 cyl air cooled engine driving the rear wheels through a somewhat agricultural 4 speed box, so dont expect to break many speed limits. However as it weighs about as much as a pack of hula hoops, this thing is an absolute blast on a warm summers morning.
Roof down, sunglasses on, tearing down a B-road to the local cafe for breakfast. That is what this car is made for.
Lets talk condition, the paint is a respray which the previous owner told me was done in Italy when the car lived there. It has a few dings and scuffs but overall presents very well. All of the exterior chromes are in good condition. The underside has been stonechipped and looks to be in good nick.
The interior is retrimmed in black vinyl with blue piping and has aftermarket rubber floor mats to protect the pristine carpets. Of course, being a 500 it has a fold back canvas roof which is in good nick with no leaks.
The engine is original, with the only modifications being a new Weber carburetor, and a programable electronic ignition distributor cap. Slight oil leak but nothing I would worry about. Starts up everytime and runs like a top.
Unfortunately the jack and spare wheel are missing and as mentioned above, there are a few blemishes and dings from its long life. With this in mind, viewings are welcomed, located in Fontwell BN18 0SE. Sensible offers welcome too.
Thanks,
SamI have an itch for a classic American car which I need to get out of my system.
