Description
One of the last series one Discovery 300tdi's manufactured. Registered in June '98 & production ended in August '98. It is a rare three door version in Rioca Red with grey half leather upholstery. I have owned it since February 2019 & it has been maintained to the highest possible standard. Within the last three years it has had a reconditioned R380 gearbox with the higher 5th gear ratio (which it did in fact already have) it had the stronger mainshaft from a TD5 & a new heavy duty LOF clutch. It also had a reconditioned LT230 transfer 'box & prop'shaft donut delete. Last year it had a cambelt, thermostat, oil & filter, new heater matrix, new battery & 4 new Goodyear Wrangler tyre in the correct 235 70 16 size. It also has stronger uprated rear axle tie bars. As one can imagine it opperates like a new vehicle, starting instantly in all weather & driving without any issues. Cosmetically things go downhill somewhat as the head lining material became detached from its backing (as they all do) so it was unceremoniously removed & the remaining backing sprayed with grey primer, it looks like something Jeremy Clarkson has done. The radio is missing, the off side door mirror's electric motor stopped working a few months ago & the mirror glass adjustment is currently achieved with a small wooden wedge. The central locking has never worked on the rear door so the key is used to lock & unlock it (two keys & two remotes are included), the near side door occasionally doesn't lock so I visually check it & if it hasn't locked I press the button to unlock it & then lock it again with the remote (or use the key if I happen to be stood at the passenger side). The off side headlight is from a series 2 (not particularly noticeable). The upper parts of the car body have been resprayed (but not the roof, rear door & N/ S/ R quarter panel) & whilst looking perfectly presentable from a distance there is orange peel & it's just not as good as it would have originally been. It has two sunroofs & both are tapped over as they leaked a bit (Land Rover's don't have sunroofs they are water ingress hatches!). Finally I can return to good things & without doubt the best thing about it, & that is its remarkably corossion free condition as it still has its original sills, boot floor, rear cross member etc, only the front inner wings had some minor welding repairs which were done shortly after I purchased it; There are very few in such good condition & this is backed up online for all the world to see with its DVLA MOT test history, look it up with the cars original registration number which is now back on it R102 VUT (G19 WAC is available seperately). A lot of effort has been made towards reducing ongoing corossion & actually too much to write about. Whilst looking at its MOT history it can be seen that advisory items disappear by the next test & its mileage can also be noted; This has been "my trailer towing work vehicle" for all the time I have owned it as I do not like it running around on salty roads when a less important car can be used, its busiest years with me were 2021 to 2023 & a general decline in work has reduced its mileage to virtually nothing at the moment & hence its reason for sale. Throughout my ownership it has been kept in a garage or under a carport for the vast majority of the time. The car is in Kingswinford, West Midlands, test drives will be done by myself unless proof of insurance can be given & the car will only be released upon full payment.
