Here we have a super rare and first ever production car with a 6 speed gearbox.
this car was purchased due to its rarity and price at the time. Prior to purchase car had been parked for a few years due to a failed head-gasket. Soon after purchase car was placed into repair
Work carried
Head gasket with head porting, refurbishment head gasket was replaced by a multilayer steel gasket used on current fire engines and compression ratio raised with it, also been dyno tuned for the changes believe it or not. Car now returns over 500 miles per tank (measured 52mpg) with mixed driving with the gained thermal efficiency and making 65bhp and 96lbft (54hp and 86lbft from factory)
Timing belt, water pump, spark plugs, oil, oil filter, rocker cover gasket, thermostat, clutch, brand new shocks all round (monroe from the punto gt variant to add support wile keeping comfort) 4 matching kuhmo tyres and rear brake lines replaced! During the past 3 month I have done over 5k miles and its has been an absolute joy to drive, bodywork needs attention and that was next on the agenda even booked if wasn't for the appearance of a MK1 Uno for sale.
This Punto is genuinely pleasant to drive and mechanically as had loads of work done to bring it up to todays road demands. It also has a broke fuel flap unfortunately but doesn't stop from accessing the fuel cap. Fuel feed tube has also been replaced. This has all the quirks from an older car like manual wind up windows, plenty of visibility all round and plenty of room for your shopping. It doesnt cost a fortune to run has no heavy corrosion to be addressed just surface corrosion (also due to be addressed uppon full respray)
To sum it all up this car is genuinly a joy to drive and once behind the wheel you cannot tell its age as it feels solid on your hands (no wonder I ended up using it every day for past 3 month)
This is a genuine good car with the right atributes to make a true classic, low mileage, rare spec and no heavy corrosion or holes to be addressed!
Unfortunately i have no space to now keep it as it has got replaced by a mk1 Uno equally low mileageGreat mpg
