5 Former Keepers, Only 79, 940 miles & Good History
I am selling my lovely mint green 1983 Silver Spirit. I had always said I wanted to own and Rolls Royce and almost 6 years after scratching my itch I have now decided to sell the car. I am in fact replacing it with a Rover P5B, which is also affectionately called the ‘poor man’s Rolls Royce!! The previous keeper owned it in his collection for 26 years and had his own mechanic service it regularly. I have all the MOTs from his ownership in 1992 up until the last MOT in 2023 which it passed with no advisories.
I purchased the car in late 2019 at 77, 120 miles and was recommended to use Dennis, a 77 year old apprentice trained Rolls Royce engineer who gave the car a full service, as well as changing the rear spheres and distributor base plate. Unfortunately, he stopped working shortly after that but I was luckily recommended Michael Hibbert Engineering, Rolls Royce & Bentley specialists (another gentleman who did an apprenticeship with Rolls Royce 50 years ago!) and as you can see in the picture I have spent almost £6, 000 over the last 4 months.
The car is classified as Historic being 42 years old and is road tax exempt and ULEZ compliant.

Interior
The tan leather interior is in excellent condition with no rips or tears with only very light patina. The carpets have been protected by sheepskin rugs which are all in excellent condition, together with the unmarked foot stools in the rear. The car comes with
electric windows (some operate slightly slowly), electric seats and wing mirrors and all the map and courtesy lights in the front and rear work perfectly. The air conditioning is ice cold and works as it should. There is a radio cassette player, although there is
interference on the radio which I have not fixed and the cruise control has not worked since I owned the car. Unfortunately, the vaneer door cappings will need refurbishing as they have started to lift. The vaneer on the dashboard, other than the glove compartment cover itself, is very good.
Exterior
The metallic mint green paintwork is in overall good condition and from distance it looks really good. However, up close you can see that it has gone flat in some areas, particularly on the bonnet and would benefit from respraying. There is a small amount of bubbling on the offside rear wheel arch and the odd mark elsewhere that I have tried to capture in the pictures.
There is a complete tool kit and locking chrome plate which covers the Spirit of Ecstasy when it is pushed down and stored for safe keeping. There are 4 matching Avon tyres which have good tread on them. The central locking works to unlock all doors but does
not lock all of them.
Overall
I have loved driving this car and with the latest work carried out it really does drive beautifully, a real pleasure to sit behind the wheel and wallow in the leather interior. It is an excellent opportunity to purchase a structurally solid and mechanically sound car that just needs some cosmetic detailing.
