Description
Beautiful 280ce in superb condition. Car registered October 1977.
The C123 was presented at the Geneva motor show in March 1977 so this must be one of the earliest right hand drive C123s in the UK.
Stunning colour combination of Astral silver with blue/ black MB Tex/ Cloth checked interior. Electric front windows and electric sunroof.
The interior is in time-warp condition with original Sanyo radio/ cassette deck that works perfectly.
Three owners with only 46, 000 miles which is very low mileage for a car of this age. Less than 1, 000 miles per annum.
Full service (June 2025) and MOT to March 2026.
Covered 1, 500 miles since purchase earlier this year and sorted a few minor items (water pump, exhaust manifold seal). Car running beautifully and has had a recent service. Mercedes book stamped (1977, 78, 79, 81, 82, 84, 86, 2021 (recommission), 2025) and letter from original owner’s daughter in 2018 providing background of car (in storage from 1992 to 2018). No stamped service history between 1986 (33, 000 miles) and storage (44, 000 miles).
From letter looks like car went into recommissioning around 2018 with Colin Ferns (Mercedes restoration specialist in London) and sold to second owner with 44, 300 miles in the 2021. Second owner only covered a few hundred miles (unfortunately passed away) before it was sold to me this year.
Unfortunately, there is no documented history of the recommissioning work but from conversations and condition of car it looks like a comprehensive program of work was carried out (tyres, brakes, refurbished alloys, radiator, exhaust, battery etc. to name but a few).
Car needs to be viewed in person to appreciate the condition.
