Importiert aus Kalifornien und 2011 vollständig von Martin McGarry von Karmann Ghia Motorworks restauriert, hatte dieser Karmann nur einen einzigen UK-Eigentümer. Das Fahrzeug wurde regelmäßig gewartet und gepflegt und befindet sich in gutem Zustand, zeigt aber wieder Anzeichen seines Alters.

Originally orange with tan interior, the vehicle is now a striking chocolate brown with red interior upholstery. Seit 2016 wird das Auto regelmäßig beim VW-Klassikspezialisten Jacks Garage in London gewartet. In 2022 wurde die Nasenverkleidung bei einem Autounfall beschädigt. Wie Sie den beigefügten Bildern entnehmen können, hat eine fachmännisch durchgeführte Reparatur die Front des Fahrzeugs besser aussehen lassen als vor dem Unfall, und da es sich um eine geringe Kollision handelte, blieb die Integrität des Autos ansonsten unbeeinträchtigt.
Some modifications were made at the time of restoration, including seat belts, a radio and an immobiliser.
Der Wagen wurde regelmäßig HU/ TÜV-geprüft, aber der aktuelle TÜV lief im September 2024 ab.
There’s always work to do on a vehicle of this age; quirks and niggles. I’ve tried to be fairly thorough with this list. At the moment:
The locks need a little work as they can sometimes be a little unreliable.
The speedometer ticks on occasion but otherwise functions.
The original glass is misty around the edges.
The underside of the doors are rusting. This has resulted in the internal trim on the doors starting to detach. This needs attention.
The front passenger windows don’t quite align - a common issue with old KG’s
There are a small number of rust spots visible under the exterior paintwork. I’ve Identified the worst rust spot that I’m aware of in the photographs.
As with many of these VW engines, the car runs very well. With regular servicing it remains remarkably reliable; it just keeps on going.
Once polished up the paintwork gleams, mirroring all around it. The majority of the photos here were taken back in September 2024 when I was originally preparing to sell. Due to illness, I’ve only taken the car out on a handful of short trips since.
