Description
The Dodge Charger is the epitome of the American muscle car - big, powered by a V8 and not for the faint of heart. First shown as a concept car in 1964 there have been over 8 generations since it went into production in 1966. For those of a certain age it was the Dukes of Hazzard TV series that made the Dodge Charger the poster car for a generation.
Left hand drive and imported to the U. K. in 2019 the V5 form for this Charger shows only 1 previous UK owner. This car is a real rarity as it retains the factory features of the luxurious SE Brougham spec. Manufactured in 1972 the car was sold to its first owner Larry Heafner on the 10th May of that year through City Dodge, North Carolina. The 5. 2 litre V8 produces in the region of 215 bhp and delivers this power through the Torqueflight automatic 3 speed transmission. The Brougham spec gives this Charger a heightened sense of luxury with vinyl roof, the iconic concealed headlights, tinted windows, duel racing mirrors, rally style instruments, luxury high backed seats and wider ‘C’ pillars. It also has a highly effective air conditioning system which is still working extremely efficiently today.
The black interior is a mix of cloth and vinyl with wood inserts and Brougham badging. The front bench seat features a central armrest allowing you to cruise in comfort. There is some minor wear but the headlining is in very good order with no tears and working interior lights.
The high quality paint finish in its original black colour contrasts superbly with the highly desirable polished American Racing alloy wheels. The original wheels with Goodyear tyres are included with the car. Chrome work is sound and shows no pitting or degradation. Extremely clean and tidy underneath the eye is immediately drawn to the new pair of stainless steel exhausts that emit that captivating V8 sound.
The Charger was cherished by a number of owners before being sold by Muscle cars For Sale Inc. in 2019 and imported into the U. K.
I recommend that the car should be viewed on our ramp so potential buyers can be assured of no hidden weak spots.
The original ‘auto wallet’ that accompanies the car contains the original owner's handbook, bill of sale and a collection of charming early 1970’s road maps of North Carolina - surely collectable in their own right? A number of invoices are included, the most notable being a gearbox service in 2007, as well as the current V5 document.
It's both a fantastic looking and sounding machine that's been looked after and remains highly original - a rarity as so many were customised into 'street racers'. It's M. O. T exempt and taxed as a historic vehicle. Open to near offers.
