Description

This car is a 1931 AG tourer with a steel body. This was a short-lived, short chassis, transition model between the Chummy and later tourers. It has a three speed gear box and a scuttle mounted fuel tank. It was bought locally by me two years ago from the estate of a long term owner (about 50 years), who had virtually finished a complete restoration. I am probably the fifth keeper.

The engine and gear box and chassis had been rebuilt, the wiring renewed, seats refurbished and the car had been professionally resprayed. The wheels had been rebuilt and four new tyres fitted.
I have an attractive booklet of photographs showing the history of the rebuild and this will be available with the car. There is a thick folder of bills for new parts and the original buff log book is present.

After some development, mainly to do with timing, carburettor adjustment and a dynamo rebuild, the car ran well and among many other outings, completed about 500 miles in France last summer in various rallies with only some minor tweaks needed.
This summer we have just returned from France after a 300 trip and apart from a failed spark plug and a small problem with the gear change linkage, it performed really well.
It is not concours. The hood is completely serviceable and fits well but is not perfect. The side screens are fine but the frames show signs of wear and I have never got round to trimming the interior at the rear although I do have appropriate carpet to complete this.

The car has been driven quite a lot in my ownership so there is some evidence of use but it has developed into a practical and reliable machine which is a pleasure to use. I was particularly attracted to the car because of its provenance and I must confess, by its colour scheme which I find very well suited to this model.
The car has its original registration which has suggested two "names" in my ownership. When it is going really well it is known as Veronique. If it has a sulk, it becomes Veruca as in Salt. The first name is the more usual.
As I have already suggested above, it is a very practical and useable machine. The hood goes up and down easily and the side screens can be used to create a comfortable and cosy interior or suggest an out and out sports car.
I am very attached to it and am only considering selling as I have another project in mind. I am asking £10000 o. n. o
