Our van is a Reimo camper van based on a T25 Volkswagen Transporter, sometimes referred to as T3. It has been in the family since its purchase as a T25 Transporter in July 1990 and has a full and very comprehensive service history, including original purchase documents, MOTs, photographs, tax discs etc. It under went a full restoration including new paintwork during 2012/ 13. I purchased our van new from Colindale VW Ltd, a Volkswagen main dealer on 17 July 1990. It was registered to the garage. It has been in the family for 35 years and has a full and very comprehensive service history. It recently passed its MOT without any advisories; the current MOT expires on 19 September 2026.
In 1991 it was converted by CMC (Continental Motor Campers) based in Kent using a Reimo Florida 80 conversion. CMC remain in family ownership and operate today under the name Concept Multi-Car. Our van has been used extensively for family holidays especially when our children were young. It will sleep 4, my wife and I slept on the rock n' roll bed, while our two young children slept on the fold away bed in the pop top roof.
In 2012/ 2013 I took the decision to have the the van fully restored. It had seam rust and the sills and quarter panels were in need of attention. As part of the restoration the interior was removed and the van resprayed from the original VW mid-blue to the colours it is today. Volkswagen 'Polar White' over Kharman Ghia 'Baltic Blue'. The interior of the shell was also re-spayed 'Baltic Blue'. A digital photographic record of the restoration is available together with the fully costed specification. A copy of the latter is included in the accompanying photographs. The Reimo interior which includes a 3 way fridge (240v, 12v and gas) and 3 burner hob was re-fitted. The driver/ passenger seats and cockpit are original to the T25.
Since September 2011 it has driven just 12, 000 miles and is garaged at a professional storage facility during the winter months with the main and leisure batteries on trickle charge.
It is fitted with a Pioneer radio/ cassette/ 6 disc CD player. The 6 CD cartridge player is located under the passenger seat. The cassette is no longer used but the radio and CD player both work well.
A new short engine was fitted in October 2002 at 106, 000 miles and a reconditioned gearbox fitted in December 2003.
The 2012/ 13 restoration, included new windows and seals, quarter panels, sills, stainless steel exhaust and full respray. It was fully undersealed in 2021.
In April 2021 a history of the van was published in Volksword, the magazine of the Leicester and Warwickshire VW Owners Club of which I am a member. A copy of the article is shown in the accompanying photos.
The sale includes an unused JK Kampers cover for the van and a Fiammi portable toilet. The latter was used when our children were young and has been stored in our garage for several years
The van is regularly serviced, although recently because of the low annual mileage, this has mainly been restricted to an annual oil change. The most recent work on the van was to have the suspension bushes lubricated earlier this year.
