This car has been used and maintained for reliability during long-distance classic rallies, with daily driving as its greatest challenge. Ready to drive or continue rallying. I originally bought her as a temporary daily driver till I finished restoring my vintage car. Just 50 miles after collecting her, she broke down—earning the name Bertie the Breakdown. But that moment marked the beginning of a challenge I took seriously: to get her running reliably. With a lot of learning, spares, and persistence, she transformed into Richard the Reliable.
Since then, she’s been an absolute gem. We’ve tackled rallies together, including the HERO ERA Rally of the Ages and the VSCC Measham Rally (on solid ice!)—where she earned the award for “Most Meritorious Performance.” She cruised without issue all the way to the Black Forest in Germany and back, sharing the road with other Morris Minors and classic cars.
But she’s more than a rally car—she’s a true everyday companion. For the past year, she’s been my daily driver: commuting to work, doing the shopping, and accompanying me on countless Saturday morning park runs around the country. To me, she makes the most ordinary journeys joyful.
I’ve always tried to keep her as original as possible. That’s why I opted for the more expensive Dynator instead of a modern alternator, and why I’ve carefully preserved her original interior, which is in lovely condition. She gets weekly washes and regular maintenance—because she deserves to be looked after properly.
The only reason I’m letting her go is because I’m relocating and can’t take a car with me. It’s genuinely hard to part ways, but I know someone else will cherish her spirit, reliability, and character just as much as I have.
I highly recommend her also to young drivers as I would still count myself as one but the car has been also member of the youth department of the Morris Minor Club, being supported there with heart and expertise.
