Wizard of Rods Chris Boyle wanted to show the World what they could do, the result just two complete Oval body shells were made totally from superior fibreglass identical to the original KDF’s that pre-date beetle!
Not to be confused with the later 1960’s shells that have the wrong glass profile.
Original KDF’s are thee most valuable form of Beetle just a small number for sale prices are between £150, 000 - £350, 000 !
‘Peanuts’ was converted later in life to a split rear oval window conversion and a split dashboard from Glass Action in America USA was added to complete the look.
V5 Spare keys, paperwork history and previous mots
1962 excellent chassis hence the nice early number plate it is absolutely solid, everything is clean in good order and easy to work on.
Running a 12 volt electrical system, a REM-TEC 1600cc Engine, a later transaxle with the early drive shafts. Suspension has coil over springs on all four corners, wheel spacers, military knobbly cross ply tyres and rare KDF hub caps thanks to a previous owner who was looking to create a KDF 82E clone for the re-enactment circuit. Also the original KDF’s are now so valuable that owners simply do not take them to shows.
Working semaphore trafficators with under bumper indicators fitted front and rear for safety.
The interior is lovely, beautiful period dash, ivory steering wheel and knobs, heavy woven carpets and thick tweed early comfortable seats with matching door cards.
The engine a 1600cc as good as new from REM-TEC has only covered 11, 000 miles since purchased. It runs really sweet, pulls well, crisp, responsive and starts on the button every time!
An opportunity to own a fantastic looking VW that will NEVER RUST and is mechanically sound and improved.
If the KDF look is not for you then just imagine a narrow front beam, slammed maybe on air with a crazy rear camber and a lovely set of polished empi’s ?!?
And a sexy coat of fresh paint!! It is very tempting to do !!
The paintwork is best described as even but faded to give that military look.
In summary this is an incredible opportunity to own a Super Cool rare VW One of just two ever made by Wizard totally fibreglass with the exception of the 1962 chassis it will ‘NEVER RUST’ it will forever turn heads always mistaken for the real thing !
If you want to change the look it will be easy to do with slamming it and fit some staggered alloys!
