Description
Thanks for looking at our 1967 Buick Riviera. This car is a mild custom, slightly lowered, and custom paint work of Dark Bowling Green over Mint Ice
Originally a California car. (We have a copy of the original invoice for $5055.)
My father imported it from North Carolina around 12 years ago. We had the front drum brakes swapped out for discs and had the motor rebuilt by Malcolm Springham at MAG American in Bishop’s Stortford. (Now in retirement, Malcolm still looks after our classic Yanks.)
My father sold it a gentleman who had a few adventures with it. He has since, sadly, passed away. We bought the car back in 2024.
Since buying it back the car has benefited from:
A full service and tune up
Rebuilt brake calipers
New front shocks
New starter motor with solenoid July 2025
Full rub down and waxoil of the underside
New US MAG Rambler wheels with UniRoyal tyres at a cost of over £2K
Brand new Optima red top battery August 2025
MOT expiry is July 2026
All four electric windows work
Power drivers seat works
The CD player works
The cruise control works but can be temperamental
All gauges, lights and and turn signals work
Horn works
Wipers work
Air conditioning does not work, but driving with the two front windows down is great with minimal buffeting
Overall condition is very good, borderline excellent. It drives like a dream, pulls like a train and sounds wonderful. EVERYBODY looks at and loves this car.
There are four ’67 Rivs currently for sale on eBay USA. Two are $59K, one is in the $Forties and the cheapest is $34500 from the self-confessed largest classic car wholesaler in the country. That car will owe you £30K by the time you get it here and then start spending money on it. I do believe that our car is good value and available from experienced collectors. You will not be disappointed.

Some background on the personal luxury coupe known as the Buick Riviera:
The story goes that Bob Mitchell, Head of Design at GM visited the Paris Motor show and he admired the styling of the E-Type Jaguar and the class of Rolls Royce. He called the GM design studio and said we should have a Luxury Sports Sedan. He was told the designers were working on just that (they weren’t, but they got started!) The design was a knockout, but Cadillac and Oldsmobile rejected it. Buick did not. Up till then the name ‘Riviera’ was a trim level for Buick, but now it became a model in its own right. The 1963 Riviera was born and Sir William Lyons of Jaguar said it was the best looking American car ever produced.
In the GM Range The ’67 Riviera was related to the Cadillac Eldorado and Oldsmobile Toronado, they were both front wheel drive but the ’67 Riv was rear wheel drive with a limited slip differential.
The model evolved and, for many, the ’67 is the Jewel in the Crown. The 1966 model looked more or less identical but 1967 saw the introduction of the new 430 cubic inch engine. A true Luxury Muscle car, with performance to match from the 430ci (7 litre) V8. It was often referred to as the Banker’s Hot Rod.
