Description
Reluctant sale due to health issues. I have owned this 1969 Volvo P 1800S for 6 years, stored in a dehumidified unit and only taken out in sunshine. The car is solid underneath and there is no sign of rust on the bodywork. The previous owner purchased the car from the widow of a gentleman who owned it from 2000 to 2017, most of this time in storage following his death. As an experienced mechanic who also owned another 1800S he attended to any bodywork (minimal he said) and rebuilt the engine and drove the car to Le Mans in 2017. He also replaced the front and rear bumpers. The car presents well externally though there are some minor imperfections in the paintwork and there is a little pitting of thechrome around the lights. While this patina is absolutely fine for a useable classic, if you wanted to improve the car over time a respray (or even detailing) would make it cosmetically great. Mechanically the car runs fine, I just drove it 30 miles for its MOT, which had no advisories. The car had an extensive service and numerous other parts replaced a few miles ago costing nearly £1000 in 2023 (see photos) The car has stromberg carbs fitted which work but the idling does vary sometimes. I have purchased some fully refubished twin SUs which I intended to fit prior to my illness. Internally the seating, headlining etc are fine however as with many of these cars the dashboard is cracked and the oil/ water temperature gauges do not work and again, if I was keeping it, I would have tidied and sorted these out. There is not a great deal in the history file prior to the 5th owner from 2000 though there are a number of MOTs from 1980 to 1987 which indicate the mileage at that time was 85000, given it has been stored for a good 15 years since then and used sparingly for the last 8 years, I would guess the car has done 162, 000 miles but cant confirm this (and in any event the engine was refurbished). The car looks great with its Saint wheels but it also comes with the original vvo wheels and caps. All in all a great useable classic and an absolutely sound base to take to the next level if the next owner so wishes.
