Description
This is a most original and almost perfect Mk1 Spitfire 4.
It has no rust and is a time warp car with all its correct period features.
New wiring loom fitted.
Gearbox rebuilt.
New clutch.
Engine runs very well with good oil pressure.
Everything works exactly as it should.
It comes with a metal "Bermuda" style hard top with removable panels.
Plus soft top and tonneau. Bought by my son in Australia about 10 years ago for me and returned it to the UK.
Original right hand drive.
Wood-rim fitted, but also comes with its bakelite plastic steering wheel ...........(in case Concours beckons)
Currently fitted with wire wheels, the car will also come with the original early model steel ones. Tyres on both sets are good.
Alternator fitted but original generator will come with it too.
When the car arrived it did not need repairs for any rust issues as its time in OZ was spent in dry state conditions.
The chassis is totally solid.
Bodywork was taken back to bare metal and repainted in its original Signal Red.
It still looks very good.
It has had new carpets fitted.
Lots more pictures available or ask if you want any specific shots.
On TV!!
Sister Boniface Mysteries is set in 1963 and in Series 3 / Episode 7 the car is featured. (See it on Catch Up with U and Drama)
The director wanted to add glamour and insisted on my red Spitfire.
At the start of the episode, two of the Avon Ladies drive in the car, stop and wave at their team.
Spoiler alert. One of the ladies is the murderer!
