Description
For sale is an absolutely lovely little 1936 Mandille et Roux light motorcycle in completely original condition with a wonderful patina which deserves to be carefully preserved.
I bought the bike as a non runner just over a couple of years ago and brought it back to A1 running order over a period of several weeks. At first the engine would only run for a couple of minutes whereupon it would tighten up and almost seize . I discovered that the previous owner who imported it from France in 2018 had fitted a new piston which was slighly oversize . I reduced the piston by . 0015" which solved the problem. Also , the c/ shaft seals had virtually disintegrated which meant that the c/ case compression was virtually non - existent. To rectify this I machined the c/ case halves to accept modern seals which sorted out that problem!
On engine reassembly I fitted new clutch plates and springs which I obtained from a company in Belgium. ( also new gaskets )
Spares for the Sachs engine are quite readily available.
There was a non - original carb. fitted to the bike when I bought it but last year I managed to buy from Holland an original Sachs carb. of the correct type (cost £200 but well worth it in the end!)
The bike is really a delight to look at and ride and I have been to a good number of rallies and club runs which I shall greatly miss . I am unable to use the bike now due to severe knee problems.
I doubt very much if there is another of these lovely little bikes in the UK !
