1998 Porsche Boxster 2. 5L
Here for sale is my Porsche Boxster 2. 5 manual gearbox, with factory hardtop and nice private registration. It has just gone over 80, 000 and has just got a fresh 12 months MOT.
The car is finished in Ocean Blue Metallic with Boxster Red leather interior. The wheels are 18" Sport Classic II alloy wheels which really suit the car. The seats (heated), dash and door cards are in great condition, the carpets are all original and in great shape to, but are slightly faded which is to be expected after 27 years. The body work is in good condition with some age related marks, a few small dings on the boot lid but nothing that distracts from how good it looks. Under the front and rear boots are nice and clean, plenty of space for weekend luggage too. The roof is electrically operated and works perfectly, also it comes with the factory hard top for those winter months.
During the last two years the car has had a new water pump, all the pulleys and belt was done at the same time. The Oil Air Separator has recently done and a new battery fitted a few months ago. The front tyres were replaced about 1000 miles ago and has a matching set of sport contact tyres all round.
The car comes with all the original book packs, service book, also a folder with receipts for work that has been done to the car. It has both keys and the V5 in my name. The MOT history is online, but I think most are in the folder also.
Although this is a second car I have been using it almost daily for the last six months. It drives really well, has plenty of power, pulls through all the gears as it should. The gearbox is really smooth, changes gears really nicely, the engine is also really good. Its starts first time, idles perfectly, no smoke or rattles, doesn't drip any oil. Most of my journeys are short trips, but recently I took it on a 3hr drive and it performed perfectly.
The only reason I'm putting it up for sale is I have just started a restoration on a Lancia Fulvia and I'm putting all my effort into that, so the Boxster will probably just be sitting around unused now, which won't do it any good. There were some advisorys on the MOT, the number plate light is now fixed. The cut in the tyre sidewall, I have taken a picture of it, hard to spot but need to mention it. I can't find and oil leak, its doesn't use or drip any oil, probably needs jet washing off, but any inspection it welcome. Slight play in the track rod end.
The only other things to mention is the starter occasionally squeals on start up, it can go a week without doing it or it can do it every start up. I have a brand new starter in the box that will come with the car. It's been doing it for over a year but has never not started. The keys fobs both stopped working after the battery change, both open the car fine on the key and start it.
With those issues I feel I have priced the car accordingly, none of them are particularly urgent or affect the enjoyment of the car. It's ready to go and can be driven away. For the asking price the private plate will stay on the car. Viewing is welcome, any questions please ask.
